Preparing for a Two-Hour Workshop, Whoa!

Standard

I already have about 30 workshops available for presentation. They range from 30 minutes to about 45 minutes or up to an hour.

The workshop event coordinator, for the Bloomingdale Writers Connection, contacted me and asked for a custom workshop, of approximately 1 1/2 – 2 hours. So, I had to research, pull from other workshops, and create a brand new workshop, from scratch.

Add in a new puppy to take care of: feed three times a day, take outside every hour, and watch constantly. A flight to Ashboro, North Carolina to pick her up from the breeder and fly back with her that afternoon. The first time we turned on the engine, she about jumped out of her skin, but after that, she turned out to be a great little flyer.

People were pulling me from every different direction with requests and my only answer was, “Nothing will get done until I finish this workshop on Saturday. Get with me after Saturday.”

Devastating, but not unexpected news, from our veterinarian about our American Eskimo dog of 13+ years diagnosed with Cancer.

A thyroid that won’t cooperate, an upper respiratory infection, a sinus infection, PTSD, and Narcolepsy, well, fun times have occurred!!

And, to top it off, I was panicking about a shipment of books from my publisher that didn’t arrive, and didn’t arrive, and didn’t arrive, until …. last night!!! Talk about cutting it down to the wire!

I was majorly freaking out that I would not have enough books to sell, and that I would be then stuck with a huge inventory of unsold books in my office. I thank God, for pulling off this miracle and having the books arrive in time.

And, I thank God for my husband who talked me down from the ceiling yesterday. He had me get out my To-Do list, and prioritize it. And, it helped that yesterday as actually Thursday, not Friday, like I thought. Strange, the way your mind plays tricks on you.

  • So, the workshop is ready.
  • The handouts are ready.
  • The writing exercises created.
  • The books are available.
  • The place cards for the books with price are printed.
  • Promotional material has been updated.
  • The car has a full tank of gas.
  • I’ve had a manicure/pedicure.
  • My name tag designed and created by the most wonderful printing company in the area! Architectural Signage & Printing
  • A warm, relaxing bath with salts and bubbles awaits me prior to bedtime.
  • I can now add a new workshop to my list of available workshops!

That’s it, in a nutshell. I have hit the high (and low) points. I’m grateful it’s over. Thankful for God’s angels watching over me.

I hope your weekend is wonderful!
